Planning Ahead

pocketpctraveler.com - How to use your PocketPC:

Used properly, a PocketPC can be an invaluable tool for travelers. It can help make your vacation more fun, and in a pinch, it can save you from disaster.

 I suggest you:

  •  program your phone with the toll-free number of the airline you're flying on. If a flight gets cancelled or delayed, it's much quicker to handle rescheduling over the phone (rather than fight other people at the counter).

  •  While you're at it, program a couple rental car numbers and hotel numbers into your phone – having them on-call can save you valuable time if you're stranded, or just in a hurry.

  •    Download a GPS program onto your PocketPC (they're available all over the Internet), so you'll always have directions at your fingertips when you need them.

  •   Program helpful travel sites into your PocketPC to save you time and money on the road. I recommend:

  • Mobile PC Traveler Sites you should consider bookmarking,

  •   FareCast – A site to find out whether fares on major domestic routes will go up or down in the near future. Very helpful in planning or in last-minute purchases.

  •  AirfareWatchdog – A great site for big bargains on flights (and more).

  • AvoidDelays - Flight information on-the-go. As the name says – it's all you need to avoid (and plan around) delays.
  •  WaitTime – Information on security checkpoint wait-times.

  •  SeatGuru – The source for viewing (and choosing) the right seat on any airline.

  •  XE.com – A great (and quick) currency conversion site that you can access from your PocketPC
  •  TheTravelInsider – The way to check on different baggage policies on different airlines.

  •  OneBag – A great site for packing tips and information, including what you can and cannot carry-on.

  •  I loveToTravel.co.uk – I love to travel too. If you're the same, give these guys a visit (you won't regret it).
